AI Engineer · Agentic Systems
Hi, I'm Brandon J. Redmond
Senior AI & Automations Engineer
I design and ship production AI systems — a solo internal support platform used daily by 100+ people, a production RAG system over a real knowledge base, and an AI-assisted clinical documentation platform. Real systems, under real load.
I also teach. I build learning paths that explain how these systems actually work — agentic orchestration, RAG pipelines, multi-agent workflows — grounded in the code, not the hype. Five years in the classroom taught me how to make hard things clear.
Origin Story
The Pivot
These days I design and ship production AI systems — but the path here started in a classroom. After five years teaching math and computer science, I left in 2020 to build software full-time, and the instincts that made me a good teacher turned out to be exactly what agentic engineering rewards.
The bold move: I taught myself to code — no bootcamp, no CS degree, just 18 months of focused study.
What I brought forward: Break hard problems into steps, think systematically, make the complex accessible. Teaching skills that turned out to be engineering skills.
Career Timeline
The Career Path
Senior AI Engineering Contractor
Available for senior AI engineering contract work. Architecting agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, and production-grade orchestration frameworks for engineering teams.
Python Orchestration Framework & SDLC Harness
Designed and built a production-ready Python orchestration framework with an agent-driven SDLC harness. The primary open-source tool used across agentic engineering projects.
Clinical AI Platform
Key contributor to a clinical AI platform — built AI-powered features that streamlined clinical documentation workflows. Deep production experience with LLM integration at scale.
Internal Support Dashboard & Production RAG
Built a solo internal support dashboard used by 100+ team members daily, then extended it with a production RAG system over the internal support knowledge base.
From Classroom to Codebase
Left a secure teaching career to bet on software engineering. No bootcamp, no CS degree — 18 months of intensive self-study, building real projects from scratch, until landing a full-time engineering role in 2022.
High School CS Teacher
Taught computer science fundamentals while developing deeper understanding of technology's potential to solve real-world problems.
Middle School Math Teacher
Masters in Mathematics. Developed systematic approaches to breaking down complex problems - skills that now drive my engineering process.
How I Work
Teaching Shapes My Engineering

Systematic Problem Solving
Every complex system gets broken down into learnable components. Whether it's explaining fractions or architecting microservices, the approach is the same: start simple, build understanding step by step.
Clear Communication
Technical concepts mean nothing if you can't explain them clearly. My teaching background helps me write better documentation, lead more effective meetings, and mentor junior developers.
Patient Debugging
Years of helping struggling students taught me that every bug has a logical explanation. I approach debugging the same way I approached helping students: methodically and without judgment.
